Unemployed, trying to get back to work. Who will hire me?

It is common for trucking jobs to want you to have recent verifiable work experience. They usually wanna see your last three years of employment.

 

In your opening post, you state that you haven’t worked in 5 years. Can you clarify that? Reason being, 5 years out of the game would mean that you have to start back at square one at a training company.

 

None that you want to work for.

No reputable company wants to drop $10k in training costs on someone who hasn't had a job in 5 years. Odds are, you're going to struggle being productive in a low supervision environment or will be overwhelmed by actual work.

Get a job, any job - then build from there.

 

All of the reputable companies have gone to this requirement it seems. Used to, if you had more experience than years out of the truck, some companies would take a chance on you. Insurance and the ebb and flow of the industry has changed that some. You'll definitely need a refresher or start over.

 

Just make up some fake documents. It works for the asylum seekers.
