unemployed vs. felonies

You have to be more specific with recruiters.Tell them due to my parents health I took care of them 24/7 rather then hire an inhouse nurse.Kind of glamour it up and tell them you would gladly fax written proof from my folks saying I did care for them

 

I took 13 months off because of a heart attack and had trouble finding a job,with 16 years experience.hell,crete wanted me to go out with a trainer.

 

Most if not all "big box" trucking companies, are wanting someone who has recent work experience. Its a catch -22 , if your employed. You can find hundreds of jobs(figure of speech) once unemployed, they disappear. Find a small outfit, but due to insurance company policies they want a driver to have 2 yrs experience/possessing of a CDL.

Advice: get your CDL, sit on it. Find a local job even dishwashing, or yard work. Till you have 2 yrs down. No accidents, no tickets. It gives a small outfit the chance to hire you and train you how they want. And pay .30/mile if not more depending on the outfit.

Otherwise. "Big Box". Is self insured, so they can slave you out at .12/miles during training. (6 months to 2 years). Then. A big jump to .25/mile after training.

I think a lot of it is dealing with the lack of experience. If you were to spend a month or so and go to an accredited school, some of thise recruiters will change their tune, even with the unemployment.

And getting your cdl and "sitting on it" as suggested is not a good idea. Those same compajies hiring after schooling will consider you inexperienced again if you sit for a couple months after you get your license.

 

I really think this is true. The companies that give "Free" cdl training are probably going to be alot more crazy about any employment gaps, since they are "paying" for your training. If you pay for your cdl yourself by going to an independent school like Roadmaster or whatever is close to you, you have much better opportunities, and alot of companies aren't really gonna give a dang if you have been unemployed for two years or twenty years if you have a clean record and can drive the truck down the road, which is all that matters.

I have a friend that is in the same boat here in NY.He drove for 17 years and has been ''local'' for the last 16 months.He also was in Prison 20 years ago for a 2 year stint.He lost the local job and now they tell him he is NOT QUALIFIED..!!!!...Are they kidding..?

So he got this from everyone up here..He gave up and went to NYDSS..He is on 100% welfare with 100% health care and 100% food stamps.He has an apt they pay for too..It is an amzing thing to see,NY Welfare..Here is the kicker.He works 30 hours a week under the table and makes 400.00 a week...Pretty impressive...

I ran into him a few weeks ago and he said he is going to go to school and be re-trained at NO COST...Keep in mind friend.There is more than one way to skin a cat....
