Holy Cow!! 86 instances of drivers operating a CMV while disqualified??? wow..........
The court ruled the FMCSA can't mandate EOBRs, with the rules they had. The court did not say the Carriers could not use them on their own.
There is only one way a driver can be DOTD 18 times in 3 months. Keep failing the roadside or weigh station and you will keep getting DOTD. I've been driving for 2 years now and have a good record for clean inspections and the bonuses as well. Do your pretrips properly, get the broken fixed and pay attention to the log book. This is NOT rocket science.
What a bunch of hog wash. Western Express does not suggest in any way that you work unsafe. There are plenty of checks in place to assure this. First of all.. all directives are recorded on the Qual-Com. when it is used. You can request any instructions from them to be sent via that form. Trucks are inspected on a regular basis and schedule and it is up to you to make that truck available for that purpose. YOU are responsible for EVERYTHING that happens related to that truck and the freight it carries from the time you get into it till the time you get out of it. If you fail to deliver on time. run out of time, breakdown and sit there with a stupid look on your face instead of fixing the problem yourself or notify the company, get lost , YOU are a poor planner and you need to get out of the truck ans step away. I never commit to a load assignment without first making sure I have thetme to deliver on time and if I can't make on time I notify the dispatcher and put the ball in his court. We have a serious problem with safety and stupid drivers are the cause of most of our bad scores. I will admit that our training and qualifying need work but drivers are responsible for everything else. And that includes knowing the in's and out's of this business. If ya don't know then ask. I have been driving for 2 years now and have learned a great deal by asking questions and paying attention to the answers. I sat in truck stops and watched the experienced drivers put their trucks in the hole at night JUST to see the right way to do it. I focus on safety at ALL times. I not only watch the road in front of me but the sidesa and rear as well. Western Express is what YOU make of it.
Hogwash huh? 86 instances of driving a CMV while disqualified........yeah, man, that's hogwash alright. Frankly, a problem that a very, very simple Excel program would fix, would you wish to fix it. No question about you, your skills, or ability. However, have you ever stopped to consider what other potential employers will think of your application when then see "Western Express" as part of your vita? Personally, if I were the hiring manager, your application would go to the bottom of the pile......which is, pretty much, where Western Express is in the trucking world. Good luck, brother......none of this is directed at you personally, but it's got to be said that WestEx is really, really jacked up.
If I thought for one second that a hiring manager was going to judge my ability by the company that I worked for I would not waste my time working for that carrier. My CSA and performance records would speak for me . D.O.T. ,CSA, DAC and any other monitering forum out there is all in my favor when proving what kind I feel that of driver I am. They are also showing what's right or wrong in any carriers out there as well. I believe that Westrn Express's rating and mine are and should be 2 separate issues.
I also run out of Nazareth and was in the first dozen drivers hired for that region when it first started up. I transfered from Dacatur and have been in Pa. ever since. I have an excellant DM and terminal manager as well. occasionally I have a short week pay wise but but that's usually the fault of the shipper/reciever. I take the good with the bad and tomorrow's an othr day. I have made asa much as $1250.00 in a single week and my average is about 850.00 take home. I have said it before and I will say it again... it's what you make of it. If someone is unhappy with their pay, don't moan and groan about it. DO something about it. Step up to the mike and say something. Do a good job and you will be running more. We have drivers that only want to run 300/400 miles aday. They drive like they are out there on vacation and sight seing. Loads are late a lot . They drive unsafe. These are the drivers who will never get a decent paycheck. Hope this helps out .
I have NO complaints about my electronic logs. I was skeptical at first but also hearing lots of negatives. Then when I switched over I discovered a lot of positives. Less D>O.T looking at my logs. It let's me know without looking how much drive time I have left . Warns me 1 hour before that deadline and if ya can't get off the road before that you are pretty numb. Many other advantages to. The only negative? Can't run 2 at the same time. But that would be unsafe right. RIGHT!! Paper logs I can do without.
There are always going to be drivers out there breaking the rules no matter who they drive for. Driving illegal should not be used against a carrier. We are in control of the truck... not Western Express.
Jason is that you? And you are right. We are trying to change that in Pa, you know I just switched to the office as the safety instructor, and yes I still am a driver as well.
