There's nothing besides company policy preventing you from leaving the truck and going to a hotel. You're not on house arrest when placed OOS. Public facility laws are for paying customers only. When you stop at a rest haven, you aren't a paying customer.

Wouldn't that make me a paying customer? -
For hours of service violation, definately try to get them off the road. You don't need to be siutting there for 10 hours. Flat tire or turn signal out, something that is relatively quick fix, I've left them right there. Majority of the time, there has not been anything close to get them off the road.Wiseguywireless and Les2 Thank this. -
Les2 Thanks this. -
Well gee 29 inspections and 20 failures(actually 49 but who is counting). I guess they got tired of writing you up for your windshield and the right side circuit of your turn signal considering the times you were cited in multiple sates for the exact same infractions.
All that being said being escorted to a certain shop is unethical. You should have been able to call whichever road service out to the place of OOS you wished. How dare that cop let you save the road call charge!
I would suggest getting those air lines secure if your guy in the Volvo gets in an accident your gonna end up out of business with that many citations for it. -
dieselbear, AXE and Les2 Thank this.

Yeah, I like it when people say that you know they are lying. Because U.S. Marshals are court enforcers not U.S. Commerce enforcers. I hear people say they were being harassed by a DOT Officer and they called the U.S. Marshals and they told them this or that and set them straight. -
I guess I don't worry about it all that much since I check my #### out before I leave each and every morning. -
I think the Officer meant that as being a good person. He wanted to make sure the guy was in a safer place than being on the side of the road.
Tazz Thanks this.
