Oh ok I didn't gather that from your post, but if trks can park there and not a safety hazzard,I don't see why not.

Well, the good thing is most carriers won't can you for 1 bump, but most will for 2. If most rookies don't suffer 1 bump, a dang lot of them do.
Anyone can have 1 bump, 2 bumps suggests you're just not paying attention, so you're now on that bubble.
Typically, you're gonna get a talking-to from Safety. And they're going to call you in and let you sweat being fired until you get there... and maybe until the end of the talk. It might take them that long to make the decision.
Contrary to what seems popular opinion, Safety understands maybe better than anyone how this stuff happens, they deal with it all the time, sometimes several a day at the mega carriers, and they "study" incidents and crashes. They also know a boo-boo can make a much better driver, or not.
You're gonna want to say the right things, and "the truck was parked illegally" isn't one of them. It suggests an attempt to shift responsibility, when it was unquestionably all your fault.
They want to know what you learned, what's going to make you that much better driver, and you better have more than "I have to remember to check my mirrors".
I wonder if you weren't tired. Yours was a mental error, of the fundamental variety. These type of incidents often if not usually occur at the end of a day of driving. You get "there", finally, a safe haven, and are ready to park and kick back... except there is a tendency for tired drivers to mentally kick back about 2 minutes too soon. You're gonna be tired sometimes, but you've got to remember you have to "drive" that rig every blasted second the brakes aren't set. -
My first accident was a right turn squeeze on a mint condition 1986 Jaguar XJ-6

saw pics of this posted on twisted trucker ,the guy that got hit posted pics of his damaged truck obliviously parked illegally. He was looking for sympathy and got nothing but a ### chewing for being illegally parked and crying about getting hit.

Of course it makes a difference that he was parked illegally. Why do you think they made it a no parking zone. Don't need to say anything.....take pics and e-mail them. I wouldn't be surprised if your insurance company refuses to pay a nickel. Worst case will be 50/50.
I am so fed up with people that park illegally because they are too lazy or incompetent to park when there are plenty of spots available. Makes me want to hit them on purpose.grabberblue12 Thanks this.
