Not sure if this is where this goes or not but.....

Everytime the power goes out (which has been pretty regular) my scanner dumps its memory I have had the covers off but can't find the battery that serves as the memory backup can any of you get me pointed in the right direction here...

I am NOT an electronics wiz by any means ! :biggrin_2552:

pg 24 says it has a backup but doesn't tell me what to do if it fails, I will look into the 2nd link and see if I can get the problem fixed....

    Thanks for your help, Mike..

The first link verifies their is a memory backup, the 2nd link tells you what part and where to order. It seems to be a Cap. I am pretty sure you could buy and then take it to a CB repair shop to replace. The 2nd link gives you a location also of the Cap.

Go here and register,, then grab the zip file of the inside pics.. might help also.

I'm gonna dig into that after dinner, I would have thought that it would have had a small battery for memory backup like a watch size battery for example... :biggrin_25511:

Soldering isn't one of my strong points but my fellow ham radio buddies are pretty good at it if I get in over my head !! :biggrin_25514:

they use a R/C network... not much power is required to hold memory...

I soldered for 20 years.. not hard... but you need to make sure you are replacing the right part...

You might call the company also and ask for technical support and see if they can narrow it down with a pic or get you in the right area.

    Thanks,
