    I will check for a noise filter tomorrow morning, im sitting at a TA in Vegas doing my 34 but dont feel like getting back out of the truck for the night, already walked to the casino at silverton and stuff.

    When you receive, you still transfer power. This time, it's from the antenna to the radio. A 3:1 SWR still reflects 25% of the power, just as it does on transmit. The coax still loses the same percentage of signal each time it passes; it doesn't matter if the power is in watts or microwatts.

    One tech I talked to didn't recommend the new Unidens because of surface mounted components, he said they would be terrible to repair if anything did go wrong.

    Think cellphone to get an idea of what he means

    I hadn't heard much about them other than mods would be difficult(or impossible depending on who was talking).


    Some of the nicest and quietest radios I have seen have been Uniden 68s and 78s
