Thanks for this. I am 43 years old. I don't have 20 years to wait for it to "not suck". I love Unions and the idea if Unions but being the age I am I am looking for the highest pay as quickly as possible. I have the skills, knowledge and ideas needed to secure my retirement on my own. I am well versed in stock market functions and have the connections to build rental property's in Costa Rica and Mexico... I just need capital. Maybe Union isn't for me. I am going to work towards cryogenic and other tanker work I guess.
If I can make 100k+ a year for 6-12 years I should be all set. After 12 years in my last career I was only making about $76k while working 55-65 hours a week. That's just not going to cut it for my goals.

Cryo would meet your earnings criteria. It's just that even if it is not a union shop, as most are close pay wise, you will be working the least desirable shift with weekdays off.
At my gig the start time was always more important than days off.
You would have to try to not make 100 even 1st year, as they find it cheaper to work current employees vs hire new ones.

I actually perfer night shifts, afternoon/evening shift or weekends... I am hoping to find something where I am off more from 6:30-11:30 am Monday-Friday so I can still day trade. So odd shifts work for me.
