That depends.
Generally? No. There are plenty of non-union truck driving jobs.
However, there are also some "closed shop" companies at which union membership will be required in order to fill one of their truck driving jobs...
...unless, of course, you happen to be in a "right to work" state, in which case union membership cannot be forced upon you as a condition of your employment.

Good to hear that there are options.
I live in Southern California (not right not work). I guess that I will search out non-union companies.
I do appreciate those that responded. -
Teamster's or Longshoremans is the only way to go if you go UNION in Cali. BTW Im not union so Im not speaking on behalf of either.
