Yes, there are. Companies like Yellow (Yrc), ABF, R&L carriers and a few others.
cutt shark Thanks this. -
R&L is very very non-union and kind of a low ball LTL like CT.. YRC is union but the OTR division, Glenn Moore, is not to the best of my knowledge. ABF is union but they're LTL and not OTR.. UPS Truckload which is kind of OTR is the only non-union UPS company..
The only union "OTR" companies are tanker or car hauling and they're not irregular route OTR carriers.. To the best of my knowledge, there are no irregular route OTR companies that are union right now - maybe certain terminals at certain companies but that's it..cutt shark Thanks this. -
Thanks for the info AllowMe and JakeBrake12, I was just wondering trying to get all the info I can on the OTR industry.
-
The big union carriers ARE OTR... regular route. You're either local or OTR. Even 'regional' jobs are OTR... just not long haul.

1) The only OTR companies that are union that i know of are:
Atkinson freight
Auto-truck transport
Active transport
Cassens
Auto-truck was one of the best Gdam gigs i ever had.
2) Let's define "OTR." Or let me define otr according to what i feel otr is at least:
Your going long distance and will most likely be away from home for more than 1 day and possibly several days and possibly longer, but not nessesarily.
Note: if you drive 400-500-even 600 or more miles a day, but you're home everyday/night, this ain't OTR.
3) Companies like yellow, ups freight, abf etc. are union which is a good thing, but they ARE NOT otr and in fact are LTL, less than truckload.
i've done it both ways---union and non-union and i highly recommend going union regardless.free spirited1, walleye and cutt shark Thank this. -
Thanx for th e info, I'm a Union Carpenter out of St.Louis and was just wondering about all the job type for CDL class A driver.

OK, ABF is indeed LTL, when they are doing P&D, but, as you know, they eventually hook a set together and shuttle it down the highway. (where they switch drivers). OTR, technically not, but for the original poster, lets say yes. Didn't know about R&L being non-union. BTW, remember CF ? Union, yes, job, no.

Wayne Sell out of sarver PA is union, they run OTR and reigonal, vans, drybulk tanks, flats

YRC chicago is union bothsides P&D and linehaul , ABF is the same , UPS freight is now union , glenn more -non , but USF holland is , and there is very little left of the tanker outfits that are union , the only outfits that I know of that are is superior markham , stahly , and mostly gas carriers or construction co's that haul there own ashpalt . transport service was but they broke the union , and Ruan is depending on the customer serviced .
