    Actually, this happens every year. Capital projects end and the weather stops work in many western locations. The workers will take their vacation time and comp time, then in a few months the new budgets will be allocated and the workers will come back after the furlough.

    Things are a little different this time around. Both Union Pacific and BNSF are hurting between the freight crunch,staffing issues for their trains and now the railroads’ infrastructure being scrutinized because of Norfolk Southern’s f*** up in Ohio. It’s creating a “perfect storm” of sorts.
