it would be a somewhat "typical" interview. expect to maybe go "online" while there for some questions/answers that will cut down on time the interviewer spends with you. i can't tell you pay/benefits, but UPS is a teamsters outfit, and sso you could expect very good wages/benefits after the usual 90 days period. someone i know makes $24.00 per hour (city driver), but he has been there a while too.

they will check your DMV, and if you had an accident with-in 1 year of your application, you will not be hired. they will do as complete a background check as possible, calling ALL your former employers.

let us know how you do.

Well I did the interview today. I think I did pretty good because I got sent for a drug test and they made me fill a package load of papers. I have a road test, day after tomorrow. Im kinda scared because they told me that they will road test with doubles. Ive never even coupled a double before and my experience rests on side load beverage delivery. In beverage you never uncouple any trailers. Im adraid that I'll fail the road test but I guess I can just give it my best shot. Im also weary on the credit situation, mine is pretty poor from past life situations. I wonder if they take that into consideration. You quoted them as being teamsters. I was told that they have no union, that only the couriers have union. Pay starts at $17.51hr. and increases $1 every 6 months until you reach $22.51, but you get the full UPS benefits and retirement package. I guess it's a pretty good gig. Any comments from anybody would be appreciated. I wont be sleeping much tonight!

Go for it,if you don't pass the doubles test, tell them you really want to work there and how to go about learning more, they may let you go with a senoir driver to train you. Tell them you'll work for free for a week or two. You will have a great future there than allot of other places. Make sure you are extra careful, they don't tolerate any accidents that could have been prevented by any means. good luck, keep us posted.

Alright! I passed the road test. I cant believe I actually got thru it without experience driving this type of equipment. Just so anybody interested can know this was what they asked:
    1. A standard full pretrip.
    2. Couple & uncouple a trailer.
    3. Couple & uncouple a double.
    4. Take a nice long city and highway drive with a 53 footer.
    5. Come back to the terminal and back into a dock with no trailers to the sides.
    6. Back to the left with a trailer on each side.
    7. Back to the right with a trailer on each side.
That was it. It took 1.5 hours and it made me sweat like heck. But I passed!
Now I have to wait for all the background stuff and if that all goes well, I'll be in. I'll keep posting.

good luck.............however...............just be sure this isn't a "temp" job for the christmas season, then they lay you off..................

UPS usually hires around this time of the year specifically for the season.......
