I am fixing to start going to school to get my CDL. Has anyone attended this school or know anything about it? Is it recognized by trucking companies as a legitimate school or should I choose somewhere like 160?

If United is 160 hrs. or more, should be fine.
You can also call trucking companies you're interested in and ask if they hire from that school.
What type trucking are you interested in?

I went to TDI in Murfreesboro, which has since moved to Christiana. That was a long time ago, so don't know anything about it now.Last edited: Feb 1, 2022

.On this forum , we can give you names of trucking companies and you can make a quick phone call and ask if they hire from the school. Some reimburse tuition back to you in monthly installments.

I wanted to stay local if possible due to having small children. I have been looking at Sysco and OD, they have availability and have local runs open. I could possibly do home every other night if I have to. I don't really know who all I should be looking at I have just been using Google right now.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
How close are you to Nashville?

Sysco and Old Dominion are good choices.
Try for Line Haul with Old Dominion. The pay is better than city pickup & delivery. Can still be home every day or almost every day. -
Thank you sir for the help and advice. I spoke with the school and it is a 180 hour program. They said the first 50 hours is prepping for the permit test and the rest is hands on with the truck. The lady said there were usually 4 student's per truck / trainer and they have a 80% graduation rate and 90% job placement rating.

I'm sure Sysco will hire you from that school.
Contact Old Dominion and TCW and ask if they hire from that school.
I'd prioritize Old Dominion and TCW over Sysco.
The money is great at Sysco, but you'll be exhausted when you get home. The big paychecks are there though, no question about that.Last edited: Feb 1, 2022
