Think this whole argument was blown out of proportion; nothing more than a simple misunderstanding of how to let someone know they cleared your tractor and can get over as a courtesy; guy was simply defending me by saying even though my method of doing it was wrong it’s still cool because it’s better than being some a hole trucker who’s only out here for himself and can’t even respond with “I’m doing fine; how are you this evening?” when asked by a fellow trucker how they’re doing (personal experience, guy just acted like I didn’t even exist, punk as mf); with that being said I’ve since learned what everybody meant by pressing the button that turns off the headlights briefly and then back on as if you’re flashing them, but without using your brights, moving on.

farmerjohn64, you have nothing to apologize for, nor defend... This is an ongoing "discussion" about this topic. Nothing new. Everyone has they're personal views, likes, dislikes, and gripes... So take all this with a BIG grain of salt and (like you said) move on.

I'll dim my lights for someone passing me if they've got traffic behind them or if they seem unsure about getting back over. Some will thank me and some won't. I always wonder about the guys who thank me even though I didn't signal them over. Are they saying "Thanks for nothing"?

When I rode with my grandfather back in the seventies he only either turned on his head lights or shut them off, there wasn't an option to flash brites.

Sometimes a guy passes me, creates the appropriate amount of space, signals, pulls in and then blinks his lights at me. For a dude like that, I'm sorry I didn't signal for him to move on over in the first place. It's almost as if I've let him down.

    Qbf594 and PacoTaco Thank this.

Or you could be lazy like me....
You can signal right then left.

Means the same #### as the flashing the clearance lights. Easier bulb to change...

You bright light me ... I "courteously" hit you with my obnoxiously bright work lights.

    Can't fix stupid.
