First, the DVIR is for issues that cause the vehicle not to comply with 49 CFR 396. There is a list of items that must be inspected. Cosmetic damage is not included.
Second, given your history with this carrier, you're between a rock and a hard place. Report it, you may be blamed and terminated. Let them find it, you will blamed and possibly terminated. I honestly see little upside for you to hide this

That's true. But I was answering for what's already happened.

No . No reason to report it. That's basic wear and tear on a truck. Maybe drop by a truck wash least once a year and wash that brake grime off ur wheels. I bet those things are nice and shiny underneath :D

At Swift they do damage inspections periodically.
I would not want them to find something that obvious that I did not report first.

How are you going to answer the question... Why wasn't this damage reported before this?

Bean Jr. and buddyd157 Thank this.

Some of those company trucks literally look like the only time they get washed is in the rain. The back of the sleeper will be completely covered in road grime from the tires

You may not have hit anything, but it looks like contact damage to me. It is possible that someone's deer guard clipped you.

    Regardless, call it in.

Bean Jr. and Lonesome Thank this.
