Nope, I don't need to climb out of the truck. I can just look at the back window to check the height as I'm hooking up. What, everyone doesn't drive a day cab? Sorry for your luck. :)

(And for those that cannot tell, it's a joke son!)

If a guy with low pro 22s drops a trailer with the landing gear 2 inches off the ground, a guy with 11r24s can't even get his tires under the trailer.

Really it just comes with paying attention and experience. As I'm backing up i can see the distance between the rear drive tires and bottom of the trailer and right then know if it's too high or too low. That rear window makes it easier for you, but the rest of us can use our mirrors to accomplish the same thing.

On the topic of hooking trailers, it amazes me how few drivers look under to make sure the jaws hooked properly.

    Bob Dobalina Thanks this.

When I did a drop and hook I did a quick and dirty look at the trailer before I backed under it. Then if nothing was wrong I looked at things like the gap and the jaws afterward. He who doesn't look is one day going to have a separation. A tug test while good, does not tell you the whole story.

Coolbreeze100 and Bob Dobalina Thank this.
