To the OP, a week off for something like this is not unreasonable at all. As has been pointed out, he is lucky he still has a job at all. Hopefully he will take some of that time off and think about his actions, rather than thinking he is being "picked on." He is not.

I wouldn't sweat the week off, its more than likely just policy. It doesn't seem that unreasonable. In the future he should focus on parking in a better spot. If he is asked to move, he should. GOAL. Especially in an unlit lot, just to be safe. Happens more than you might think that people hit things in the dark.

Seriously though, you should move for others, if you are blocking others in, or blocking access to a delivery point show some respect. Everyone is just trying to do their jobs. There are enough people. Out there that are going to disrespect you that you might as well respect one another.

A one week suspension for a collision which resulted in damages to the truck and lost revenue from the same, very fair in my opinion.

We should be held accountable for our actions.

A side note. This was no accident. One could classify it as poor judgment, lapse of care, or the perception of your choice.

Law enforcement seldom, if ever, use the term "accident." The terms most used are "collision" and "incident." Why do they not use, 'accident'? Someone or something is at fault. And, the 'something' is typically traced back to 'someone' — as in equipment failure or manufacturers defect.

I bet he don't do it again. Expensive lessons tend to stick with you. Be glad he still has a job and learn from it. Besides, that's an event that happen while he was is the sleeper. How do you explain that?

Personally, I wouldn't wake another driver because I couldn't back. I would go find another spot. That's just rude!
