This "pro driver" thinks that instructor should be a pedestrian.
Really?
A "puff of exhaust"?
Hmmmmmm
With the strict smog laws, and all the research done as a result, when was the last time y'all saw a car emit any "puff of exhaust"?
I think that instructor is livin' in the past.

If they took a week off well Fed-Ex charged them $900 each And his take home pay was less than what Micky Ds pays.

I don't know where you come from but you have no right to speak for the entire industry. My company repects their drivers and pays them very well. The last thing the company wants to do is retrain someone after speading alot of time and money on a driver. Maybe that's why we have drivers that retire with 25 to 30 years all the time. We have a very good screening process for new hires also and if we find one with an attitude such as yours we kindly send them down the street.leannamarie Thanks this. -
GasHauler...
Agreed. I know - or at least, think - I don't work for the best company on the planet. I DO think it's at least one of the best entry level companies.I'm paid well for my level of experience, I get home when I want to,I'm treated with respect, I drive safe equipment...
Sure, I'm a newbie and my opinion might change in a year. Somehow, I doubt it will, though
From what I've been seeing here )and on other boards( the part of the industry that "needs to be fixed" is the HOS.
Well, that and the CDL mills.
I almost included the newbie companies, but decided they actually do the rest of us a favor by burning off the chaff - those CDL holders who really aren't cut out for this insane job. Sure, they miss some - but what do you expect from mass production?AfterShock Thanks this. -
#####, Lurch!
Good post!
Good points.
Are you home?
Anyway, I agree with your assessments here.
Especially finding the BEST fit for a starter company for you.
I was fortunate in that I was hired by my first choice company right out of drivin' school. They were my first choice after doing research.
During my initial interview I was asked which other truckin' companies I had applied to.
I told him "none".
He then asked which company was second on my list.
"ALL the others"
Then he asked what I found attractive about Schneider.
Those answers REALLY seemed to interest him.
Basically, it's an agreement betwixt the trainee and the company.
If/When a trainee agrees to the terms, they should be able and willing to abide by them.
Now-a-Daze it seems a lot of folks hire into companies not even knowing, and/or fully understanding what they've agreed to.
And I agree with burning off the chaff & mass production.
