rank, you're making assumptions and you know that nothing is that simple.
This industry is not one for hard and fast answers, although they're always offered.

Everyone gets what they want out of life.

Most people want what they want but they don't want it bad enough. They would rather whine about things instead of changing them. Because what they really want to do is whine.

You're just picking fights without offering anything useful. Sitting around for nothing is a pretty common problem and you know what you're saying in response to that is really simplistic and impractical, then insinuate it's about the level of a person's drive to succeed. The person that started this thread is working pretty hard and asking for solid advice on an issue. I read the whole thread and get to a point where you turn it into a criticism on somebody else, derailing the thread and being a know-it-all turd.
How about I just run for government and fix the laws so the company guys get their waiting time, and reduce the power of the conglomerates to monopolize while bringing the rates up?
There's another happy fast answer. I'll just start that, now.

My reply wasn't directed at the OP.

It was a response to the post you made about other people's business decisions affecting your revenue. Now you want to get the government involved. Good grief. Why do you really care what anyone else gets for detention? If you are good and you set your self apart, you will be paid. OTOH, if you do the same thing as a zillion other carriers (or drivers) and you do it poorly, then yeah you will likely get the shaft because.....and this may sting a little...you aren't worth much. You can be replaced with one phone call.

Call it simple if you like but it's true. If telling the truth makes me a turd, so be it. If you think it's of no value, fine. There are plenty of people that know what I am saying is right. You can either accept your revenue as your responsibility or you can continue to blame others.

I charge for everything and I'm a really wicked scrapper between the fine lines. We get it from all sides in the industry, do we not?
Im not here to complain, although I get so angry sometimes I could absolutely burst, and get especially pissy about driver to driver hatred. Here's my view:

as as a group we're worked like dogs, when we realize things are stacked we buck, things aren't getting more workable they're getting regulated BY THE GOVERNMENT against US, the small operator and for the benefit of large rate cutting, bulk discount getting carriers.
Youre taking an individualistic approach to solving issues which is what many small operators do, and that's mainly the only way we small operators have ... But in the larger picture, the industry is moving closer and closer to closing all of our windows with large conglomerates lobbying to limit our options. The government is ALREADY involved, only us small people can't pay them. On a level, I'm sure you see this.

SO, when you cut down other small operators because you don't want to hear it, or figure you're exempt because it's fine for you for now, look a few years ahead and read between the lines on what it could mean to your livelihood.
And FLATBED, if you didn't realize this issue, you wouldn't be posting threads about Transforce buying up anything that moves then chasing posts I write where someone is offering snippy quick fixes like it's solving anything.

Yes, but I have lost time as well. Time is opportunity.

Imagine this. Boss asks employees to come in to work from 8 - 5, except at 5 they must clock out and go sit in their cars for 5 hours. They still got paid the usual 8 hr day, right? So why are they whining?

Maybe they are whining because they were detained for 5 hours of their lives. 5 hours they will never recover in their lives. They could have gone to the gym, taken an evening economics class at the local college;) worked out at the gym, or sat down with family for dinner. Nope! They lost those opportunities to sit in the parking lot for nothing gained. It cost them something. That time can be valued in many ways, but it still has a value.

Looks like after labor and expenses you are at break even,, Containers and rail boxes make hard to make money with truck payments. With your own authority you should be able to make $1.80 or more per loaded mile, but, but you will have to find the loads..can be done,

Your behaviour toward me the first time I ever saw you on the forum leaves you no room to say that and you know it.

I use fuel gauges from letstruck.com. You may want to look into Profit Gauges as well. Easy to use and will break everything down into percentages and CPM. I use both, fuel gauges is free BTW.
