I dream of being an OTR driver driving across this beautiful country. So I am 26 years old and have had jobs in the past but no longer than 5 or 6 months a lot of them were temp positions. Right now I am working at a warehouse its been a little over a year now.. Havent missed a single day and always work hard. What should I do to increase my chances of a driving job? Should I keep working here for a couple more years? I have a dui a little over 3 years ago. So most companies require 5 years to lapse. Transam I talked to would have no problem hiring me. I really am just trying to get my life together..

If TransAm will hire you, then why wait any longer? It's a pretty good outfit to get started with. Quit wasting away your life in a dreary warehouse job with the same routine every day. Get started and enroll in a cdl school ASAP. A 160 hr. school is best and some companies will hire with 120 hr. school. Try for 160 hr. school though.

You are going to spend your trucking future inside of warehouses. Delivering to them on time or early. Right? Right. Or risk getting told to scram and don't come back until later in the week with a new appt while your next reload just went away and the money with it.

If a company says they are gonna hire you, get going. Are you so coddled that you are unable to decide that now is the time to go and get going.

Don't stay in that warehouse full time for 45 years. You will not have a good life. Believe me when I tell you that you will be having your fill of them sooner or later as a driver. Heck, run for McKesson in Memphis and you get to use your sleeper while they unload your narcotic load and reload with cardboard going straight back to memphis.

I am going to school in july. I;m not sure if its 120 or 160, but there is only two schools around here and this one AAA school of trucking fits around my work schedule. I didn't apply to transam I just talked to a recruiter. As you can tell I am seriously stressed out about the DUI. I was stupid and now im paying for it.. no fines that's already done, just worrying. Honestly, if I don't get a driving job I will be miserable and have nothing else to pursue. It's all I want to just be free driving down the highway. What other companies will hire with a 3 year old dui? Besides the DUI I also have a restriction on alcoholic beverages.. someone snitched I wasent drinking and driving but the two ladies in my car were. Would they consider that 2 duis? If so im screwed.

Just don't lease at Trans-Am and you'll be okay.

The plot thickens. You weren't drinking, but took the fall for two hoochies that were, and got a DUI from it? The cop was that swooned by their beauty, too????
