My next door neighbor (shop, not home) is a registered sex offender. According to our landlady (I haven't verified this) it's over him having had a consensual relationship with a 16 year old boy that began when he (my neighbor) was 17 and continued until Chuck turned 18 and was arrested.

Just saying, I'd like a few more details before I pass a serious judgment.

You make a good point. A few more details would help. I have trouble accepting him being a victim of circumstance though.
What disturbs me about the OP is his attitude toward what he did. There's a big disconnect there between the act an it's consequences.
He's on Meagan's List but he really believes he never hurt anyone? If he truly believes that he needs to realize that he needs some help. He needs it now.
A lot of people have problems. Most people don't abuse children and deal dope because their life isn't going the way they want it to.

Actually had to look up megans law just to be sure it is what I thought. I'm not the judge or jury the op has already had to face them, I am not sympathetic, or empathetic with the op and feel that a man on the list should not be travelling this country without supervision. I don't like pre-judging folks for their past but with child sex crimes you can't be so quick to let sleeping dogs lay.

Please explain why a guy with so many strikes against him chooses one of the hardest fields to get into with his past? It’s not like he’s a truck driver. He doesn’t even have a CDL. Just get a normal job.

Maybe he's like a lot of the other wannabes. He sees the trucks going up and down the road and some of the carbon based life forms that pass themselves off as drivers these days so he thinks to himself..."That guy looks like he's doing okay. How hard can it be?"

A few drivers on the Sex Offender Registry have posted on here in the past and they all found driving jobs.
