Other than that, I’m going to bite my tongue, as I fear letting my true thoughts being known would get me banned from the site.

 

About 8 years ago I ended up hiring a registered sex offender. He was the neighbor's son, and I knew his mother would beat him with a garden hose if he ever screwed up at work......

This chap was a sex offender for life because he diddled his high school girl friend, and her Daddy wanted to make a point. I never thought that a young guy should be put on the same list as a 50 year old homosexual predator that prowls junior high schools......

In the end this guy was a good employee for about four years, and then made some other women related decisions that pushed him completely off the rails. I think nookie was his kryptonite.... couildn't say no. Which is probably the moral of the story.

In the 1980's a rogue police officer in Wenatchee, WA took down an entire church on child sex offenses. Dozens of men and women were tried, convicted, and spent years in jail.

Then it all began to unravel.

Almost all were exonerated. Those that weren't should have been. I remember a Wall Street Journal opinion article around the time of the exonerations, at the time the Wenatchee mayor and prosecutor were vigorously trying to keep folks in jail, said the following (as best I can remember):

"Wenatchee is the only city in the world that is arguing in court that they are the capital of child sex abuse." You can probably find more on Wikipedia about this fiasco.

Witch hunts happen. Cops and prosecutors can screw up. They are in it to win, truth or innocence be ######.

All THAT being said, Meghan's Law could apply to a broad range of charges and circumstances. I encourage the OP to let us know more. Then we can give better advise. It took some courage to post what he did.
