Woaa, not cool. But as moose said in his reply, android batteries SUCK! Its like they built the phone with all this fancy technology and then realized, crap, we forgot to develop a battery to go with it! Oh well, we still got those recycled batts in the back. Yah, repackage those, they'll be fine!.. Grab an AppKiller from the market though, it will help you gain some battery power back and also show you whats using the most power. If it dies that quick though, you got some GPS thing, tracker, or something majorly powerful going on there! lol...

That's the thing, mine didn't suck at all until very recently. I could get three days of regular use out of it. Not any more.

My Droid X goes 3 to 4 days and it is two years old. So personally I have not experienced and "droid batteries suck" syndrome, but I'm not saying that it hasn't happened to some. Just hasn't been to mine anyway.

HOWEVER, my phone WILL die in one day if I don't have "Advanced Task Killer" running and killing background tasks regularly. It will also drain dramatically more quickly if I have any social networking apps, GPS, wifi, etc enabled. My brother's iPhone does the exact same thing. The more you turn on, the faster it drains, naturally.

It is way more likely that what is running is the culprit.

Oh, and Lookout caused no measurable effect in my case either.

Using task killer is a no no with android. In simple terms when your task killer kills a app guess what android will start that app back up. So your using more battery by the push pull effect.

Depends on the phone. PC World did a test: http://www.pcworld.com/article/244067/taskkiller_apps_will_they_help_or_hurt_your_battery_life.html

It shows that freeing the extra memory is a truism, that battery life is extended slightly in most of the phones (worse in one.)

And I'll say again that my biggest improvement in battery life came from turning off "features" like gps, wifi, location services, bluetooth.

Here is an excellent article for those who are looking to truly delve into some of the most Android battery life tweaks: http://lifehacker.com/5795796/how-to-get-better-battery-life-from-your-android-phone

Most of my stuff is off or auto killed but it has been since I bought it. I think the biggest difference is that most phones haven't been involved in an underwater filming experiment.
