You got nothing to worry about as far as trucking goes much less anything else for that matter. Your innocent until proven guilty and from what you said it sounds like self defense.

You were assaulted when the other person pushed you.

This is not entirely true. In the US DUI is considered a serious misdemeanor, it's considered a felony in Canada. A trucker in the US with a DUI on their record may or may not be allowed into Canada. Even in the US a misdemeanor depending on what it was has the potential to follow you for years. I know a guy that was deemed not bondable and lost a chance for a manager job because of a shoplifting charge over 30 years ago, that was discovered by a background check. A conviction of misdemeanor family violence can render you unable to legally possess a firearm. Generally speaking misdemeanors should not be a problem, however you can not say they never will. It just don't line up with the facts.

I have several thoughts about your situation. The first being you really need to lower your thermostat. As a trucker if you do get a job you are going to be faced with many situations where you are going to be disrespected. You start hitting and breaking noses every time you get disrespected your going to find yourself out of a job and unhirable. My next thought is if you are convicted you are not going to be able to do OTR driving until you are totally released by the court. Most OTR carriers will not hire you while still on probation. Check to make sure the judge does not also sentence you to supervised probation. However once released by the court you should be OK to drive.

Do not take a plea deal. Please self defense and talk about how scared you were when he shoved you and your swing was complete self defense to get him away from you.
No jury will find you guilty. Do not talk to cops anymore. Only talk to your attorney. This is NOT nothing to worry about. A lot of companies will look at it as workplace violence and will NOT hire you for a couple years.

Back 10-20 years ago, employers didn't ask applicants if they were convicted of a misdemeanor, only felonies, fast forward to present day and employment applications will ask about misdemeanors and felony convictions.

Times have changed and there are some serious misdemeanors that can cause a employer to be concerned about it or raise a red flag.

Here's the real question. How much of this can you prove, if any? The only fact that is present is a broken nose.

Yeah youd get hired no where great though. Some not so great otr company. If thats all you have on record you could be ok just keep in mind most companies dont what you to be on probation in fact im sure most like90% require that. I work at the bottom of the bottom and they told me they cant til im done. And if your convicted you will be put on probation.

Some have strict policies, like Ryder and R.E. West. Others set a time limit, or take it on a case by case basis. Even intelliapp, which most of the megas use, has felonies and misdemeanors to list.
