Cairo averages one inch of rain per year and its population is 22 million. I can't think of many places on Earth that would be a worse place to live except Haiti or Somalia.

I've been to Cairo a few times. I enjoyed it there, but of course, didn't have to live there. I enjoyed walking along the bank of the Nile River.

Cairo relies heavily on the Nile River for the supply of fresh water. The river is their primary source of drinking water and constitutes about 90% of Egypt's water supply.

Always dig your latrine downriver from your camp. Of course, if someone is camped upriver from you, well, your screwed and the coffee will taste a bit off.
