Yes you can see the average the rate goes for. most of the time they go higher then the average but not always. If contracted rates they should be higher most times.

It isn't about oil consumption but the condition of the engine internally.

But hey, I am not the one who can have a truck puke out on me.

I'm not worried about it. At least not yet. I think it will be a while before anything major goes. From what I've seen if the engine is bad internally it is going to be burning oil and sounding bad. I don't know much but I know that.

Yeah, thats not how it works, regular oil analysis will tell you if say your oil pump is about to fail or trace amounts of coolant could tell you to check oil cooler and headgasket before the pudding of death wrecks your life.

Ridgeline is giving you excellent advice based on managing more miles on trucks than you and i will ever drive combined

I think the point is that don’t just assume your not going to have or don’t already have an issue

Don’t see this as all doom and gloom either but as a preventative measure

Get a few oil samples and see what those show
Then save for a stormy day

That day may never come but if it does you’ll feel much better if you’re able to take a month off and get the repairs done without stressing

Sort of what I’ve told all of our kids when they started to work
You want some $$ saved and to be in a position to tell your boss to F off
That may never come if you like your job but if you ( my kids ) are ever married to the job then who’s in control?

I wonder who you send the oil sample to and how much it cost? Do you have any idea?
