Thankyou TQL!! We got a pleasant surprise this morning. Received a phone call fromSteve, seems that he feels like his customer has poorly represented him and hewould like to at least compensate us for our fuel on our dead head down to theload. Though we could have probably negotiated a different amount… THAT WAS NOTTHE POINT!! We appreciate that someone was held accountable. We as drivers areoften held accountable for things that are completely out of our control. We sacrifice,we work, and we just try to live. We don’t have the luxury of an 8-5 job, orworking right out of our home. Heck, more times than not, we don’t have theluxury of spending holidays with our families. This is just what we do. And asmuch as the broker represents the customer, the driver represents the broker. And we take pride in our pick up, our securement, and our delivery. We are NOTsecond class peasants. We DO NOT do this because you can’t get anyone else to.We do this… most of us…. Because it’s in our blood, and we can’t, by the law ofnature, do anything else. So all we ask, is that we not be dismissed. Our timeis just as valuable as yours. And KUDOS to TQL for holding someoneresponsible!! And to the others whose invisible hand had something to do withthis… 900,000 tons of steel….:biggrin_255:

So now maybe he can pull some strings and make them not post loads that don't really exist?? Only kidding.. good that they did what they did glad you at least got something out of it.. More often than not in situations like these owners end up getting screwed over and nothing at all..

Sorry, paying for fuel doesn't cut it. Even typical TONU is cheap in most cases.

Totally agree. TONU is always a bad deal for the trucker. I think our highest contracted TONU is $250. Some customers will at least listen to reasonable requests for additional compensation or add detention time if the truck was waiting before they figured the load wasn't going to go. The trucker will never be compensated for the opportunity cost of the missed load.
