I got called today from UPS for a feeder position they are running my mvr and then I will have a drive test. I haven't driven a 10 speed in a few years. I'm wondering if I grind a few gears if that's an instant fail? I might take a 4 refresher to sharpen my shifting skills. If anyone can provide any info. advice, suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

I have a 10spd now in my newest used truck I purchased coming from my 13spd. Like riding a bike . Shouldn't t be a problem depending what you have been driving.G13Tomcat and Misfittrucker Thank this.

In the past it would, maybe not now because even UPS can't find qualified drivers. You definitely need to double clutch because that also was a failure in the past. I wouldn't worry too much, but try to ease in to the gear.crb and Misfittrucker Thank this.

Both hands on the steering wheel during a turn and always unless shifting which means don't shift gears in a turn. Scan mirrors constantly and safe following distance. They will train you to drive safe, but doing so during the road test might get you in the door. Be ready for some messed up hours, which is really the only hard thing about working there. You won't make more money anywhere driving a truck as a company driver, if you make it to top pay scale. 5 years.

Most companies no they will not fail you but UPS may not say anything if you grind a couple times but you better make sure to act like you know what you're doing. How's your backing?G13Tomcat Thanks this.

As long as your backing is good and you ain't stalling it on the highway and you can back. Most testers/management/lead drivers/supervisors/safety men understands all clutches and transmissions are different and it takes a few times to figure out the shift points. That being said I have asked tester's to pull over and let me take the wheel. If that happens, don't believe the part about getting back with ya!
