    I do. Because I don't care. I'm tired, I go to bed.

I agree with you to a point but the walmart driver was almost out of hours on his 14 if it was back when the 15/10 was the rules he could've pulled over and taken a nap thats my beef this running clock does not help the safety on the roads.

He could have taken a nap anyway. Hey, I'm all for the 15/10/8 rule. Loved it. But this is what we are working with. And we all have to make concessions with it. But it's not new! We've had it since 2003. That's 11 years.

UPS drivers run there arse off specially when new, my buddy got hired on a few months back, on call all the time and usually they have him use every bit of his 14 hrs. sure he gets his 10 off, most times though his drive home and drive back is included in that 10 hrs. some weeks he works days some weeks nights. but he has 20 yrs experience so he is used to the odd hours. Also a lot of them ups drivers go from lumping boxes to driving. heck the guy that trained him had only 1 1/2 yrs exp but had 15 yrs in at ups loading trailers

I thought the new hours of service rules were supposed to prevent drivers from falling asleep?

Well if you loved the 15/10 stop defending elogs and the 14/11 and try to get the higher ups to understand that these regs are not helping safety one bit they're only making it worse least with paper logs you can pull over and take a nap if you have to.

I'm not so much defending the e-logs as I'm pointing out they aren't the devil most make them out to be. But I pull over now if I'm tired. I don't know where people are getting that you can't pull over if you're tired. The EOBR does not zap you back into the driver's seat.

Yea but if you pull over your 14 is still running for example i use to load in paulsboro nj i'd leave there around 3pm going to gastonia nc i'd go to triple ts truck stop on 301 and get somethimg to eat and take a two hour nap that way i wouldnt be in rush hour on the dc beltway no way i could do that with elogs and the 14/11.

Look, bottom line is this: FMCSA chooses to ignore data that points to the safest way to do things in favor of creating rules that have the greatest economic impact, all in the name of 'safety'. It is true that power corrupts, and it is my opinion that rules are being made and enforced simply because they 'can be'. Safety and economic impact be xxxxxxx.

Disclaimer: The 'rules' as they are now do not affect my pay or my ability to operate safely.
