You would be retired, that's almost a given. I was able to retire at 37 lol.

I was repeatedly told by one of the drivers who administered my road test and the manager that it was a 50 to 60 hour a week job. And that I needed to be okay with working 11 to 12 hours a day.

If they try to give me only 40 hours a week... That's less than $1,000 a week for three years. The overtime and directly stated hours is why I took the job rather than their competitors offering 27 and 28 to start & full pay $30/hr after 3 years.

Imma stay positive & hope they don't tryna screw me like that. Because if they do, their competitors are always hiring!

You will make peanuts at their competitor compared to what you will make there. The hours are there, you will get so many you will get sick of em and start filing 9.5 grievances. Trust me....I retired from there. Too rate right now is currently$39 and change, you are gonna be hard pressed to find that anywhere else. For that kind of work.

Okay I'm glad because maybe it was you but someone in this thread said they will try and not give you overtime. But I'm looking at the contract they signed earlier this year with teamsters and the top rate seems to be $28 and change plus another $2.50 added over the next four years of wage progression... So where on Earth are you getting $39 from cuz I don't see it in the sacred god-given contract, amen!

Ooohhhhh. That's a different company. Still a good job from what I hear but not much in the way of money for putting up with UPS as a company. It's still good money and a great job tho. I personally wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole but that's because I retired from parcel. There are quite a few guys on here that work for freight and love it! They are making good money and seem to be really happy.

It always positive in the beginning when they need the help. When volume drops people get edgy sitting at the bottom of the board.
I read in a different forum of a driver getting 30 hrs a week and was contemplating jumping ship. I ended up sitting all last week. YMMV. I already expected a slump. Just figured it would have hit more towards sept-oct.

Just be prepared and have a backup plan. Mine wont be jumping ship.
