If you get hired at YRC or Holland you will not be starting as a casual period. No way are they going to waste a person with a CDL doing that garbage work. There is plenty of work and when I worked there during the slow times there was never a layoff. They can't afford to lose drivers anymore with things being so tight.

For the Old Dominion guy on here. I worked for a company for 16 years. They are about to go under. I decided to give up 5 weeks vacation and 16 years before the ship sank. I took a job at OD last October. Here is what I was told. I was told I was hired at 23.45 I would get a yearly raise of 1.00 until full wages at 3 years. That they have been getting .60 or more in yearly raises also. So each October I should get a dollar plus the yearly raise in September. No overtime until after 60 hours. We just had our raise meeting and we were told everyone gets the .90 raise. I was talking to our manager and said so I will get the .90 in September and then my dollar in Nov right. He said no. I get the .90 when I reach one year in Nov so nothing in September and then I get the 1.00 raise next time. Figuring it that way I will not be up to what everyone else makes in 3 years. Is this how this company operates or is this manager mistaken? I know I asked about birthday pay and he said it was only paid after a year. I looked online in the ESS and it said after 90 days. So I am thinking maybe he is just plain wrong.

    Wait wait wait.

I thought he meant birthday pay as in the raise at the aniversary of his one year mark working for them.

We arent actually talking about money on his birthday..........right?

There's jobs that offer drivers the actual day off on your born on birthday... Lot of them just let you keep it as a floating day if you want

Which one would be determined by your location. One of those choices would suck near me but be great elsewhere.
