Some call this "The Devil's Tail'. Have you ever been on this road due to your GPS routing you that way? I have been before I knew what it was called. That road is marked for 35MPH all the way through for 11 miles for good reason.

Google "Tail of the Dragon". Plenty on it.

It's actually called "The Dragon's Tail". And yes, you don't wanna be there. Especially warm season when thousands of motorcyclists are riding this route.
"Been there. Done that." -
And as far as I know it's open only one way for commercial trucks nowadays.

I came down that pass about three months ago. Good thing my tandems were all the way up front. There is literally no way to not take up two lanes while turning on some parts.

You shouldn't be on the road either way, its well marked now. I remember seeing youtube videos of it, freaked out if accidentally on it. Don't take it, no fun, and you can be ticketed. Swift (true story) had so many problems they actually had to promise to route their trucks around it. You can look that up as well.

48Packard, joseph1135 and Tonythetruckerdude Thank this.

It is the " Tail of the Dragon". 318 curves in 11 miles. It's fun on a bike, but wouldn't be in a truck!
nightrider57 Thanks this. -

wow, i watched some youtube clips of that stretch of road. There was one by the discovery channel I think that showed commercial trucks driving it at the end of it....dang..crazy. The narrated video suggested that a lot of the commercial drivers were being routed there via gps as a shortcut or best route, the drivers apparently had no clue of the hazards.
