Company says to take 530 but looks like 191 would be better for winter driving. I have been on 530 bunch of times but not during winter. Never been on 191 going to Utah. Any insight would be helpful thanks!

I don't know about 530. But which way is shortest. 191 is good I've drove it from Teton pass, Jackson down to the Flying J in rock springs. Its maintained very well in winter.

Thanks, 530 is about 9 miles shorter but I know it could be a hairy trip with alittle snow. And since it isn't an US route prolly the removal isn't as good. Alot of 15 mph turns going through the gorge area. Grades aren't horrible on 530 but bad enough to ask this question.

191 is pretty flat up to Jackson. Also US 30 is good for getting to Logan. Nice climb with a view of bear lake.

530 is fine to take. Ut 44&43 us191 are all fine. I was over wt and my permits had me on 530 44& 43 and 191 going to vernal it if I remember. Hell of view if you go during day. Don't get caught in a storm cuz they close the gates and your not moving.
Got chains?Oxbow and Steel Dragon Thank this. -
Oh 530 is amazing! Such a gorgeous stretch! But yea thats what I was curious about is the snow factor and closing. Yes I have chains. Good to know just watch it on possible snow days, thanks!!

60k. No trailers in the winter though, and everyone around usually calls you in to the patrol, lots of guys get up there and spun out. Not even worth it to me to try and run it.
I live at the bottom, seen a lot of wadded up trucks and guys who didn't know how to drive the thing. I wouldn't be the least bit afraid to haul a D8 over it, but they'd never let me unless the world was coming to an end. Last guy who got killed on there had been driving for 2 months, was hauling his car crusher to the central part of the state. They figured he was 90-95k from the weights from the wrecker outfit.
