Need advice. I have super light load that must be picked up in south lake Tahoe, ca. it goes to Delano, ca. Anybody used US 50 from lake Tahoe area to CA 99? I have sleeper truck and 53ft trailer. Should I use US 50 or go back to I-80 ?

53 foot trailers not allowed on 50 go up to 80 a few more miles, but easier. I went across 50 in the summer with my stinger carhauler only had 4 cars on and will not do it again. Anywhere east of the 4 lane in California, 53 foot trailers not allowed.

Caltrans website is a useful tool. You don't want to get caught where you're not supposed to be. I'm not even sure if legally you can run 89 back up to 80 or not.

I used to run 50 when I was too heavy to cross Truckee and I pull a 52ft spread axle. It was usually at night and I didn't get caught.

That answers that. No 53 footers. And no mo 48 for me anymore since my new truck is 2 feet longer then my last truck. Putting me at 67, Maybe 66 if i suck the 5th wheel up all the way.
