Can anyone provide feedback on the following if you know ?:
    1) IF a US Freight Broker, hires a carrier in Canada to make a local delivery, and happen to be that that carrier has no authorization to operate, what can happen legally?
    2) If that same carrier did deliver the cargo but we paid someone else other than the company name, what can happen, legally?

The driver can be fined, jailed and deported as well as permanently barred entry into the USA.
The company can have their DOT/MC numbers temporarily or even permanently suspended.
This is enforced by US Border patrol and Ice as well as and in conjunction with federal DOT.
There are ways around these rules such as having only drivers with dual citizenship do "cabotage" shipments. This includes all documented North American indigenous drivers.

Hi, Mr. Thanks a lot for the feedback. To be more precise, let's say t the driver is from Canada and his trucking company is from Canada. If we hire him, without not knowing that his "authority is not active, and he delivers the cargo but, when time to pay, we pay not to his company name but to someone else. Can that create issues for us here in the State?
