I am leasing a Penske truck. Penske has their own DOT# on the door. I have my own. Am I correct in thinking that the Penske DOT# should be Blacked out, or do I operate with both?

You should have your own ID (which includes your name, numbers etc) on the truck. In essence, your info supercedes Penskes, since you're renting their vehicle.

    I'll just post 390.21

I wouldn't think Penske would be considered a carrier. And since you are not renting then just cover it up.

I worked for a company that leased from Ryder. We just had our company info on it.

Lots of companies have long term leases with Penske, and Ryder..The one I retired from always used one or the other. Our company name was all you could really see , except for the small Ryder, or Penske id. number on the unit.

We rent Penskes all the time, sometimes for a few months at a time. If you are renting or leasing the truck for over 30 days per the date of the rental agreement or contract, you have to have "operated by: Your Full Legal DOT Name and Your DOT #". It can but does not have to cover their DOT #. We have been ticketed for this more than once. I do not cover their DOT # since it is that # that is tied to the truck IRP and in state registration for MN. KY and NY.

If you have a dedicated truck on a long term lease, it should be all fully registered under your name and DOT #.
