    Hi all,

My new company runs both in the US and Canada. I'm a US resident with an AT&T cell plan.

I'm looking for a feasible/affordable way to be able to call from Canada, or have mobile data available while in Canada. My current US plan allows for free international calls from the US.

Outside of just taking it in the backside with roaming charges, anyone have a better idea?

I've looked into getting a phone/plan in Canada. I've looked into adding international capability to my current plan. Doing either means doubling my current monthly bill.

    Thanks

I have a similar setup as you do. Us phone with data, but i also added Canada plan for making calls here also. Us phone carrier doesn't do cdn data. I have a telus air card that I pay on a sliding scale depending how much data I use. If I am under 100 mb for the month its $10. If i go over i get moved into the $25 for up to 500 mb. Keep going over I just get moved into the next plan up. Never get gouged this way. You would likely have to visit a telus store to set it up, however.

How often are you actully going to be in Canada and for how long? If its a day or 2 a month. Just suck it up as you are going to be burning a lot of money for a canadian cellphone.

How much do you actually need? Are you looking to call back to the US from Canada or just in Canada? (This will cost a lot if you want to call the states as most plans don't have north american calling.)

Go look at T-mobile I know they claim to have some on device data that allows to go to Canada. If this is true it might be a decent option.

If you are going to be spending a lot of time then look though Bell, Telus, Rogers for a month to month data card or tablet.

How much data do you think you'd actually need in canada?
