With star transport from Morton IL, , I left their exactly one year ago this month, , now i'm wanting to go back to driving, so I set up a rehire for star, the bought a buss ticket, and I decided not to leave to go back, that was last week, my question is that I quite my job to go back to star and ended up not going, so my current boss gave me my job back,,.well now us,express is saying that i'm quilfied to come drive for them, i'm afraid to quite my current job if their blowing smoke, because my current boss won't take me back Agin,,, questions!! Will usexpress take me to orientation and send me home if my work history is 1 job a year, for the past 4 years?? Will they say that i'm excepted and then send me home if they feel like it?? , i'm not worried to much about the driving and drug test, I just heard that they are ruff on back ground checks, I haven't put a notice in at any of my jobs, so im afraid that will hurt me as well?? And do they do a piss test or hair test for their drug screen,,.I hope someone can help out with some advice, thanks

Dude Ill be honest. If you make good enough money and are satisfied why leave? Obviously you are content or you would have chosen someone else before going back to where you quit from.
To answer your question, You are not hired until you get keys to a truck. I have seen guys get through a couple days of orientation before getting sent home so it could happen at anytime to any driver.pattyj and Leftlane101 Thank this. -
are you in good physical shape.usexpress makes you crawl underneath a trailer walking like a duck.they do have a serious physical test
Klatu Thanks this. -

Dude, sounds like you're not quite sure of your direction, what with quitting this job, possibly going to another job, never giving notice, concerns about type of drug tests. Just focus on ONE job, go there and be the best you can be. Period.
thecleaninglady and Jakaby Thank this. -
My concern is only not making it through orientation, I don't do drugs, and i'm in good physical shape, I have the requirements of 4 months experience, I just don't want to get sent home because the other guys may have more experience or a better driving record or anything like that, I don't want it to turn intoelimination contest, I can't afford that

You need to decide on a career choice. Constantly changing your mind will get you nowhere.

Another thing is I would go to star before I went to US Express. They are one of the worst bottom feeders you will find. It will compare to going with werner.

The industry has been serving itself for many yrs. If you find a co that you like, it'll change driving you to work for someone else. However, you were'nt there long enough to become vested in their pension program. You lose, they win. You will speak with many drivers whom fallen victim to the industry.
I did orientation with u.s.x. and working hand in hand with the federal gov't,,,,They sucker drivers into taking what they call "per diem". They throw the bait out there by asking whom all would like another hu ndred dollars aweek? Heck ,,who don't. However, IT comes at a very high price! They go on to tell you that it comes from your social security weekly deduction. MMM. when your'e old and can't work and rely on soc sec and find out that it pays out what you paid in and that you opted out for "per diem". No driver gets rich and someday a union organization will save the american worker. for now, follow the american alligator, when the pond gets smaller, downsize! stay put until you're vested. No per diem. don't worry,,,be happy mon. If you take rx for a cold,,,don't drive.
