What trucks does us xpress run with. I'm not choosing a company over which have better trucks, but just curious. Also is the equipment well kept? And how about apu's?

    Thanks!

The Volvos are on their way out.

FL Cascadias, Pete's, both midroof and bigger, Prostars.

No more autos on the new trucks.

No APU, they have bunk heaters.

Thanks guys! I have another one, I was reading around the website and notice there qualcomm have a truck friendly gps, how reliable is the gps? My dad was going to give me his randmc 700 he used on the road but he loves that little thing, I can't take it like that.

I dont care how much someone tells you that the GPS is GREAT! Don't ever rely strictly on a GPS of ANY kind...I carry my own GPS, a map, their GPS, a laptop and phone numbers...you should too. When I get a load, I look at the map first, than put in the address, in my GPS,,their GPS is already set up.. I get the directions from them and follow them on the map,,once I feel it all checks out, I roll...If I have any problems, that is what the phone numbers are for...

I have DriverTech, not Qualcomm. It's okay, could never call it "great". It is NOT a truck gps. As far as I can tell it is not programmable. You can't "avoid tolls" for instance. There is no way to check for other routes, etc. Other than that it is a decent basic gps. It doesn't always jibe with the route they give you. My only real problem with it is it lags about 1 mile behind where I'm actually at. That makes it worthless for when I need it most, on local streets. If I need gps for that (as in have no clear local directions) I use my Google nav on my phone.

Your best bet is like sheepdog says...once you get your load, map it out. Plug it into your GPS (The driverTech version that came with the trk will get you close, but I don't trust it as far as I can through it). Check your turn directions in your GPS with the final directions that are given by the customer (which are also somewhat vague sometimes). And last but not least, call if needed. I have had a few runs that used the wrong customer supplied directions as well as have been routed using the DriverTech GPS through some very nice residential neighborhoods LOL. And yes, no GPS is perfect, that is why you are the professional and all the resources at your disposal

Actually....sometimes the GPS does a better job of bringing you in than the route solution provided by the customer....LOL............BUT I always find that out after I get there because I never trust mine.
