Is 6 months of team driving required now before going solo? How are the trucks set up?

    Apu's? Inverters? Thanks............

If I was to decide to leave and go work where they have standards, I can take a refresher course at my school. My instructor said I could pick it back up in a couple of days.....but from what I've learned this week, and if my time on the truck holds true, I'll probably stay for a long time.

Oh, Red, you're asking a total newbie here...LOL From what I understand right now, they will put an inverter in for you, but you have to buy it. APU's I don't know, but we can idle below 50 and above 80, or when we need to for health reasons. I haven't completely digested the Driver's Handbook yet...LOL

Yes, you have to team and spend two 10 hour breaks per week side by side in the same bunk
laying horizontal for your restart. There is NO "I" in team.:biggrin_255:

I'm tired, so please excuse any typos.

Left with my trainer on the 23rd and so far we have been basically running back and forth across Georgia, the Carolina's, and Virginia...LOL Made it to Busch Gardens last night for a load to haul to S. Carolina....got there this afternoon before our window was up and they were closed....so now we're waiting on dispatch. May be stuck here until Monday morning and then try to deliver again. Have put in about 2,800 miles behind the wheel and my trainer says I am doing good.....had to do one 34 hour restart already because my trainer was out of time and spent 6 hours at a shipper because they upped our pick-up time at the last minute and then we were 5 minutes late.

I don't have an access card yet so I can only hook-up at a truck stop or a terminal. I'll post as I can until I get home in about 5 weeks and can get an access card.

Musicgal... do you like it so far? I'll be doing orientation on Jan. 24th in Dallas. Stop in and say hi if you're around. I'm 40 with salt and pepper hair and goatee. Anyone else here out of or do their orientation in Dallas?

I will jump in here, Anna (Musicgal) is probably out making money. My wife and I had orientation in Irving the first week of this month. Dodd runs orientation and he is great. Very informative and even entertaining. The facilities are excellent. Anna was at the terminal getting maintenance on her truck so she ran us to get our UA and Medical Exams. We had 19 in orientation and only two did not make it through. One had problems with his employment history and one failed the medical exam. I would recommend having solid employment verification documentation with you. That seems to be the biggest hang up. It would help if you contacted previous employers to tell them USX will be calling and ask if they wil be available. The other thing that held up a number of students was old drivers licenses from States they used to live in. Many States do not actually report your old license as closed (or whatever they call it) Surrendering your old license when you get one in a new State does not necessarily mean the old State closed your license. The Ramada where they put you up is pretty nice and most of the staff are great. Any questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks Craig... appreciate that post. You and your wife look me up if you come through. I'm looking forward to starting with a new company, but not the way the ball bounces. The fleet mgr pretty cool? Are they pretty good at getting you with a load home after orientation to get your truck set up? Thanks again for the info.
