I'll be picking up at a copper mine near Globe,AZ and heading to Amarillo. US60 is not a designated truck route and was wondering if any of you have ran across it from Globe to Showlow???

Yes it's ok to run on loaded or empty but there is much debate on wether it is worth running that way if you're talking about navigating between Phoenix and Gallup. It's a nice drive but try and avoid it on weekends or if you're not 100% and/or loaded and in a hurry. But if you're going to Globe then there's really not much of a decision to make. I've hauled several loads of garnet that way into Globe from northern ID but not sure that it might be better to go through Nevada instead but there is one good downgrade eastbound going into Globe, too that may still be under construction?

Well I'm loading off AZ77 and need to head to Amarillo. It's a 60 mile backtrack to Phoenix and this will save me about 150 miles. I think I'll just go for it

I usually tend to not chime in on things I do not have recent knowledge of, but ... That road "used" to be just fine. And the road construction I remember was between Globe and Superior/Phoenix. Not going North East to Show Low.

I wouldn't hesitate to go that way, as stated previously you really have no other choice and it is slow going. Lots of switch backs, a few grades, sunday drivers, etc.

If the mine still has the same practice they will make you watch a half hour safety video to bump the dock at a warehouse right off the 60 (Scale is at entrance to mine site, warehouse is across the street ... kina). Enjoy!

First off, it IS a truck route. However, it's not an STAA route.

If you have a 48-foot trailer (or less) you can take it legally (statutory length for trailers in AZ). If you have a 53-footer, you're overlength and if caught can get nailed.

    Hope that helps.

Yeah I'm pulling a 48' flatbed, and I'm loading in Hayden actually Friday morning.

Pretty good pull up to Show Low but I have driven it in a truck out of Phoenix a few times back when I lived out there.
