I have two friends still driving for USA, only because they are under a contract.
They are making .29 per mile. One of them has only been home twice in the past
Ten months. He has had a couple checks over $1,000.00, the majority have been $300.00 or less. They are always sitting for days between loads.
(3-4 days at a time) He's having problems covering the cost of eating and showers.
If you think you are going to make money at USA Truck. Think again !!!! Don't Go!!!!
Warning Warning !!!! Danger!!!! Danger!!!! Stay Away!!!!

    I stand corrected.
I just got off the phone with him.
    His largest check was $796.00.
    The smallest was $9.84.

Somebody should've taught him how to get what he wants out of a company.

I have never heard of a company driver having an escrow account. What is that about?

Basicly they take out $25 a week til it reaches $500 and hold it incase they have to recover their truck, ect. They pay you the intrest off of it at the end of every year and if/when you quit as long as you take the truck to a terminal or dropyard and it's not trashed then you get your money back.

My goodness maybe they should pay the driver an escrow in case they fold up and dont pay the driver at the end there demises. I would never sign any such agreement, As far as a driver making such little money I dont understand this either. How can A driver only make 9.84 ? I lived about 10 miles from usa truck in vandalia ohio and had zero desire to work for them. Turn your cb on in vandalia and listen to them lol

    kjkbnapier:

1.) escrow is used all the time for a lot of reasons. I don't blame the company for putting a little aside in case a driver tends to be a little crazy. You see how many complaints there are about dirty/poor/bad drivers. If anything it seems $500 is a little low, if someone decides to put in their resignation by running over a billboard or parking in a sheep meadow. And I did get it back the 1st time I quit (2nd time,,, pending)

2.) how to make $9.84. Simple, put your pay roll on the CommData card. There are so many stupid fees on that thing I don't know why anyone takes that option. (plus the company can shut off the card, what the hell?) You can get a payroll advance (for a fee) use the card as an ATM card (for a fee) use the card for buying dinner (for a fee). But if you can't manage your money, (and you have a slow week, milage wise) you could spend almost your entire check before you get it. Lowest check I ever got was about $68. I worked one "day" that pay period because I came back off hometime at the end of a billing cycle (I think they gave me a Sunday afternoon p/u near my house. Little hundred mile run, and it turned out the place was closed on Sunday anyway, but since it was assigned on Sunday night, it went on the prior week's billing cycle) But yeah, it freaked me out when I got that statement too.

3.) You listen to people in Vandalia, all you're going to hear is negatives. EVERYBODY in the company calls that place The Black Hole (drivers go in,,, don't go out) Sure they have orientation there and hire noobs, but it's also the only safety office east of the Mississippi, so a lot of guys go there to get fired. The shop is one of the worst in the company (or at least rumored to be, I avoid it) and for some reason they don't have water on site. (has to do with an ongoing suit with the airport about sewage I heard) so no showers, no bunks and no laundry. So USA might be bad, but don't judge it by The Black Hole, because that's the worst of the worst.

They also use the escrow incase drivers get a ticket or something and don't have money put back. You can pay it out of ur escrow and not lose ur license.

Am I thankful that I was turned down due to a 15 mph speeding ticket

I was going to sign on their lease program.

However it seems whether its Celadon or USA trucking. These large companies are all similarly run. I'm now with a smaller company and their actually nice. If there's a problem with something they tell you right there. They actually will tell ya how to correct the problem. If ya do a good job like get to your appointment on time they tell ya.

I have been here a month and I feel as if I'm going through therapy.
