Have 2000 379 Pete that needs a new hood. Not spending $6k+ for a hood.
Choice #1. Found a decent used one with no headlights and fenders are bad for $3k. Needs paint cleaned up in several places, so a fair amount of prep work to get it ready for paint.
Choice #2. Found an after market fiberglass hood with stainless grill for just under $3k. This style is complete with fenders and extensions.
What would any of you recommend?
Thanks
Used 379 hood or aftermarket fiberglass hood

They carry aftermarket fiberglass hoods that are awesome, good fit and apperance. One of their kits comes with a stainless steel grill and surround.greaseburner Thanks this. -
I personally would stay with an aluminum hood with OEM grill surround.

It would take more than 30 to get my 91. The thing about fiberglass is you can spot them at a half mile. They don't have Huck bolts. Also they are one piece usually so a fender may all but total one out. Several boys around here run out and bought a stainless grill. Believe it or not the grill surround is a structural piece. The stainless grills are just thin metal, doesn't take long for things to start to sag from what I seen.
Mississippi129 and Oxbow Thank this. -
Where are you located? A guy here in vegas has a couple for sale

God Question!! I have been thinking about the same thing. I have a 1994 379. The braces / supports under the hood have broke. I took some metal and bolts to reconnect and reinforce them. Peterbilt won’t sell one of them. They sell the complete set.
Oxbow Thanks this.
