1972, the first time I worked in a truck shop, the Tractor PM bay had a floor drain right to an old oil trailer w/ spreader bar with flat tiers. Vacuum truck came to suck the used oil. they had only 'just' stopped using it on the lot.

growing up, mid 60's AMA TT scrambles track they used waste oil on that. parts were still hard years after they stopped racing....

Back a few years ago I did a lot of hydraulic oil changes. Local guy would do 55 gallon drum exchanges for me as the oil was much cleaner than motor oil for his shop burners. I tried the local stores for small engine oil changes. I would save it into gallon jugs. They would ask for a receipt to see if you purchased it from them. Now I just bring it to my mechanic guy. He has the tank.

Winter time theyll be glad to take it. Summertime, not so much. Cause they probably have a full tank already so they pay someone to take their excess used oil. Cant hurt to ask though. Less busy shops might not do that many oil changes.

I supose that depends on what part of the country you are in. Here in PA our waste oil services will haul away used oil that is.not water or coolant contaminated for free year round. Some even pay the shops up to $0.05 per gallon if they are a large enough generator.

I have never paid to dispose of waste oil, unless it was contaminated. Coolant, water from my lift sumps and the water separator on the floor drain absolutely. That said, I know some areas are different than others

Yeahh, don't do that. I worked for a guy that did that, added waste oil to the fuel, the trucks ran like crap.

What type of trucks? Most fuel filters filter down to 10 micron. Being bigger than ten micron can harm injectors. I have ran used oil in an older 12.7 60 series no problem.

Oh, this was a long time ago, I think it was a IH 4070 B with a shiny 290. For all I know, he just dumped it in the fuel tank outside. I worked for some doozy's,,,but there were so many doozy's to drive for back then.
