Back on the east coast, I have a cousin who is a retired cement truck driver. He was in the Teamsters for over 30 years, as was his father, also a Teamster truck driver, both OTR and local.

My cousin is EXTREMELY ANTAGONISTIC towards non-union employees.

He was a shop steward for many years. In his younger days, he would LITERALLY fight you at the drop of a hat. He does NOT take to me very well because I have spent most of my life in low income to lower middle income jobs that were NON-union jobs. To make extra money, I either worked a 2nd. job or worked a lot of extra overtime.

    NOTE:
I have ALWAYS been grateful and thankful to be working. My cousin does NOT comprehend or understand people who are grateful and thankful for what they have. He feels that it is a sign of "laziness", "GUTLESSNESS", or "weakness". BELIEVE IT OR NOT, a lot of his co-workers did NOT like being around him.

    Oxmorel Thanks this.

You should really ask their drivers how "good" their pension deal is. They are running ads because they cant find drivers, not to avoid lawsuits.

what was the 15% deduction for? they can't take 15% of your pay for giggles and grins.I got an interview today at their N. Lima/Youngstown terminal as a linehaul/road driver. Ppl say
USF works your butt off - what kind of work is that. FWIW I consider myself a driver not a lumper.
I always thought these jobs were coveted by us truckers? Sure would appreciate some details!

it not nepotism, they have to hire drivers that previous time in other teamsters freight barns. thats why its still worth it to get in, it helps you if when you need another job.

im new so the current pension deal is all that I have known but its practically non-existant to me, a 25% pension is useless almost and its something that wont be around in 30 yrs at the current rate. pension is neither a negative nor a positive for me, my concerns are pay, #of hours and management/write-ups.
