When I was driving for CR England I noticed alot of personal pickups out there hauling lite loads (up to 5 ton). Is this done through a company? Having a pickup and trailer that are not seeing much work I wondered if this was a feasibility?

If you haul interstate you will need MC authority just like any other carrier unless you lease to a hotshot company . Right now things are slow for everybody but I know several O/O's with trucks like that that have income comparable to expedite O/O's .

I did it for 5 years. Now, back in a big truck because they are not moving the RV's much anymore. Hope it comes back soon.

    Not really.
There is freight that goes there, but many of the drivers refuse to run anything but there. I only get to Florida about once a year or so.

I rarely got loads in the winter to warm places.

I usually ran Canada or some place that usually had snow. Reason I have 4 wd.

The company I'm leased to runs pickups, vans, pickups with mini floats, single axles, and tandems. Oh yeah I forgot we also do the single and tandem axles straight trucks.

Right now the board that is getting the most work are the pickups and the minifloats. They are running their tails off. The guys doing it are making a killing right now.:yes2557:

If he runs West he may get a load back . If he runs to Florida he can count on deadheading back at his expense .
