What or is there a rule on using my own personal dash cam in a company truck to cover myself? My company doesn’t have them currently and I think it’s good insurance on my part. Yes, I know it works both ways and could be used against me if I should be at fault but I’m more interested in covering myself should an accident occur. What are your thoughts?

That would depend on the company. I haven't heard of any that don't allow it but there are probably some.

Dash cam is a great thing to have.

I agree. I’ve got the DLinks X1. It’s a great unit. Tons of features.

I picked up at a plant a couple weeks ago, and they do not allow trucks with dash cams on their property, I don’t know how long they will keep that rule, since the vast majority of trucks are going to dash cams

    TaterFox and tinytim Thank this.

I’ve had one take my dash cam, but only after it was just to hold. If they were to take take, nope, daddy needs his stupid people proofer.

If I were still driving and had a dash cam I would disable it or pull it down before I let anyone hold or have it. Not going to happen. Now I would do the best I can to avoid this situation, but I also had a digital movie camera while driving. Today I would have my smartphone. No way I am leaving that with security. I would depart the property first and quit my job if my carrier tried to force me back. As too the OPs question just ask someone in safety. This is actually very easy to solve.

well to me, it's like a cb radio, satellite radio, cooler or fridge, tv, etc.

put it in, and make sure when the truck goes into the shop, remove it.

you are only using it as part of the job.

what you really should do is, go to a "spy store", (google it) get yourself a micro-mini camera, and recording mic, and wire yourself up, each time you have to go into the office......
