I would imagine if your load is sealed such as in food grade loads, you would be compromising the security of the seal, I have had to have both vent doors sealed on some loads, besides, some reefer loads stink!! who wants to smell onions or cabbage!

That would be a breath of fresh air compaired to how some of these drivers smell.......iamgillespie, Panhandle flash and Big Duker Thank this. -
Smelling onions and cabbage would be alot better than smelling a driver that ate onions and cabbage. Whew!
iamgillespie Thanks this. -
While it could work, it would have many issues.
All A/C's and refrigeration units work by removing heat and humidity from air not cooling it. They do this by taking in the air through an air return system. Then they condition the air and send it out a supply system.
By taking air from an inspection door the positive pressure could supply air to the cab. Since the return is in the front, you might not get any positive pressure there. You might only get positive pressure at the end of the chute or near the rear. Then it would only work if you opened something enough (on the other side of the truck) to allow the warm air to exhaust as the cool air came in. It would be very inefficient because the cool air would not be returning to be further conditioned. Still the air would most likely be quite cool so it could work.

Years ago I saw hands tap into the compressor lines on their units and pipe the refrigerant into their HVAC system, using the cab fans. Not real sure how they did it. Have not seen one lately.
