I applied for a dedicated position at USPF and the recruiter that called me said it was pulling a flatbed hauling PVC, copper and pipe fittings. She said it was a 5 day operation unless I get a Cali run, 2500 miles a week, & home on the weekends. Of course , talking to recruiters are like talking to car salesman.Whats the real deal on this position?
Anyone have any inside info on this operation?
Thanks,
Stogi

Sounds like you might have applied to work with my outfit, although I pull a van.
Just be sure to verify what the recruiter tells you. My pay is not what I was told it would be, but it's worked out now to the point I am happy. Don't think it would do any good to give you my numbers, since I don't do flatbed.
I get home every single weekend, mostly on Friday nights. Have only heard of one instance where someone didn't get home, but I'm not totally convinced that he just didn't piss off the dispatcher to the point where she was screwing with him.
I get about 2,500 miles a week, but it can vary. Stop pay, tailgate pay, tarp pay, and the NYC bonus boost that up a little bit.
Trucks are Volvo mid roofs. Mine has a 400 Cummins with a Super10 with 700,000 miles, and I think that's common for the fleet. Repairs can get a little tough to get, unless it's safety related, but they are doable if you can work the system.
Big thing is that they are really set on following the HOS. Give one mention of not having the hours, and it ends any conversation with no hard feelings.
Not really sure what else to say. If you have anything specific you want to know, just ask away. -
Hey I was thinking of applying for their dedicated flatbed position in Modesto, Can someone tell me what the experience requirement is?

Anyone Have any info on this flatbed dedicated account out of Front Royal,VA. Miles, pay, average stops etc? I am scheduled for orientation there next week, and just trying to get the info. Recruiters tell you what you want to hear if ya know what i mean. Any responses greatly appreciated.
