They say regional is home more often & they try to get you home weekends. OTR 14/2, but you really would need to stay out a little longer to make more money. You get 1 day off for each week worked. Pretty standard. Insurance for single n/s is $23 a week for low option (70/30 split). Didn't really look at the high option. Dental ($4 week) and vision ($3 week) for single is affordable. Family coverage is of course much higher. Coverages are average. Deductibles are a little higher than I'm used to paying, but preventative is covered 100%. You have 30 days to sign up for the insurance and if you miss that, you have to wait for open enrollment. It becomes effective at 91 days, but you start paying for it after 60 days (just like every place else). As far as the equipment goes, just know that being new, you probably will get the worst of the equipment even though we were told it's just the luck of the draw when you are assigned your tractor.

I'm just getting started with them, so that's about all I can tell you.

Cash33 just remember that hd had issues with his trainer (not his fault) and then ran solo for less than a month before he quit usxpress.. that was over 6 months ago. so his opinion may be bias and may not be well informed as to what some drivers are doing (regional, dedicated of hometime)

not trying to put you down hd just saying you experience with us xpress is very limited.

Thanks Rebel and Flood much appreciated! One more question... Well not so much a question but a concern... Just from reading the posts on here granted some may be dated, it sounds like USX may be more team oriented? Do the solo drivers get the shaft like some say on here?? Again thanks for all your help in letting me make an informed decision!! I really do appreciate it!

i have run solo with usx but that was years ago so any info i would have would be way outdated
but i did well back then. with that said solo's will do more short runs and more rail (hate rail) than teams do. being a solo it's more about who you get as a FM some will run you out of hours all the time and others will have you sitting more than you want to.

i still run solo from time to time (i'm running solo right now) but i'm a o/o with usx now and i almost never run usx loads.... it would take to long to spell it out here what i run but i get paid very well for what i do and it's no longer about miles

I can't accurately answer this question yet, but my recruiter told me the Midwest regional fleet does a 34 hour reset at home every week with an average of 2300 miles per week.

I also talked to a driver on this fleet last week and he told me that he is home a couple of times a week. He pulls out of Joliet and lives somewhere near there.

My orientation is May 14th and I'll be running that fleet for a month until my girlfriend is ready to run team, so after that I'll know what's up.

I'll try to remember to post what I find out.

That really depends on the FM. I started as solo but had a newbie FM. I wasn't happy with the miles. Regional may be a whole other thing. Teams do get good miles but still have some slow weeks. Being regional you will probably get a lot of short runs back to back. The only way i'd say solos get "shafted" is that sliding pay scale. If you repower a team load you get paid at a lesser rate even though your part of the run might be 300 miles.

Speaking of short runs, they gave us a load to Phoenix. Sitting here at Global waiting on it. Hope this leads to a better run out of there.

Teams are not on the sliding pay scale but the reasoning behind is is you get paid more per mile for short runs
